Why AP Courses? Anna achieves a perfect score on her AP exam

Congratulations to all the students who achieved a passing score on their AP exams this summer.  And a special congratulations to Anna for not only passing but achieving a perfect score on the AP English Language and Composition, a score achieved by only 9% of students worldwide. This AP course studies the rhetorical elements of argument and composition.

Why Advanced Placement (AP)?

At Queen of All Saints Academy, academic excellence is one of our pillars for success. While academics are certainly not the end goal of a Classical education, they are nevertheless a valuable tool in building virtue, character, and self-discipline. A rigorous curriculum, supported by well-designed and expertly taught courses, encourages students to pursue the heights of academic excellence.

At QAS, our curriculum team custom-builds each AP course, ensuring they not only align with our Catholic and Classical goals, but are the next step in achieving them. The process of getting these courses accredited as Advanced Placement is arduous, but the benefits are undeniable.  These courses provide students with a recognized standard of excellence, validating their hard work and advanced mastery through the widely acknowledged AP designation. (AP designation recognizes that the course is college level rather than high school level.)

As Pope Pius XI instructs us in his encyclical on education, “The true Christian does not renounce the activities of his life, he does not stunt his natural faculties; but he develops and perfects them by coordinating them with the supernatural. He thus ennobles what is merely natural in life and secures for it new strength in the material and temporal order, no less than in the spiritual and eternal.”

Elective Options for High School

Every student has unique strengths and talents. One may excel in foreign languages, another in logical reasoning and debate, while others may shine in the arts, music, or STEM fields. When students are challenged in these areas, they are encouraged to explore their potential and take on the work of developing their talents. At QAS, our AP courses are offered as electives to foster this personal growth which is so crucial of a truly Classical education.

AP Exams: A Stamp of Recognition

The AP exam, though optional, provides an additional challenge that can be highly rewarding. Students taking the AP exam receive test results that reveal not only their mastery of the subject, but also how they compare to thousands of students worldwide. This recognition is a testament to their hard work and dedication, offering both validation and encouragement as they continue their academic journey.
