What does QAS Flex offer?

How is QAS Flex different from joining the classes live?

Will my child have a chance to form friendships if he is watching the classes on his own schedule?

Absolutely. While Florida Department of Education guidelines require our Flex (Home Education) instruction to be self-paced and parent-directed rather than live-streamed, we prioritize community through optional extracurricular social opportunities.

  • Peer Connection Points: We facilitate periodic social “meet-ups” where students can interact with peers and mentors in a non-instructional setting to build community.

  • Student Clubs: With our Ultimate Package, students can join up to three different interest-based clubs. These clubs meet regularly to collaborate on projects, share hobbies, and develop friendships outside of their formal coursework

What is the parent's role? Does the parent need to teach lessons or grade?

In a Home Education program, the parent serves as the primary director of the child’s education. Our platform is designed to provide comprehensive curriculum support to make this role manageable and rewarding.

  • Instructional Support: While the Teaching Sister provides the core instruction through pre-recorded lessons and curated content, the parent oversees the student’s daily engagement and ensures they are grasping the material.

  • Grading & Assessment: Our interactive platform provides feedback and grading for assignments to assist the parent. However, the parent remains responsible for maintaining the student’s portfolio and official records as required by Florida law.

  • The “Home Coach” Model: The parent’s role is that of a mentor and facilitator. This includes:

    • Environment Setup: Ensuring a quiet, comfortable space conducive to focused study.

    • Schedule Management: Because the Flex program is parent-driven, you decide the daily or weekly pace that best fits your family’s needs while ensuring coursework stays on track.

    • Motivational Mentorship: Providing the encouragement and accountability that helps students take ownership of their learning journey.

What if my child is having trouble understanding concepts or keeping up with the course work?

One of the greatest advantages of a home education program is the ability to customize the pace to your child’s specific needs. If a student hits a roadblock, our platform and community offer several layers of support:

  • Adaptive Rewatching: Unlike a live classroom, our recorded lessons allow students to pause, rewind, and re-watch complex explanations as many times as needed.

  • Insight via Feedback: Our interactive video system provides feedback on assignments. This allows you, as the parent, to see exactly where a concept was missed so you can step in to provide extra guidance immediately.

  • Parent-Driven Pacing: Because the Flex program is parent-directed, you have the authority to slow down the schedule for challenging subjects or “double up” on areas where your child excels.

  • Peer-to-Peer Support: Students and parents can email questions to our Flex support.

  • Office Hours & Resources: While the parent directs the daily progress, we provide supplemental resources and periodic “Office Hour” sessions where parents can seek guidance on how to better facilitate specific lessons.

How we keep children engaged

Active Participation

We emphasize active participation throughout the class recordings. Coded checkpoints will require the student to respond to the teacher’s questions before continuing the class recording. Instant feedback to the student’s response alert the student to their mastery. Class discussion is open daily for virtual tutor support. Assignments are graded upon submission and the grades logged in the parent and student portal.

Customized Learning

Having students actively participating during the class recordings ensures that teachers customize learning to meeting different needs and address misconceptions when they arise.

Tech-Enhanced Education
